It acts as an accounting information system. It may be developed in-house by the company or organization using it, possibly purchased from a third party, or perhaps a combination of a third-party application software package with local modifications. SAP Business One is a solution that starts from single user to 150 users+ CATS are accredited value added resellers (VAR) for SAP and as such have to undergo the strict criteria laid down by SAP.

CATS also develop Exchequer and Sage and are capable of linking any bespoke application to these systems. The accounting software market has been undergoing considerable consolidation since the mid 1990s, with many suppliers ceasing to trade or being bought by larger groups. SAP remains under the same ownership as at concept and therefore has the scope with which to grow and develop its range of products.
